Metric Units is a what scientists in America measure everything in. They don't use inches they use centimeters, meter, kilo, etc. Things seen now a days that are measures in metric units are,
One: A bottle of tonic is measured in Liters, well a big bottle would be 2 liters.
Two: A can of Tonic is 12 ounces is equal is 0.345 liters.
Three: A gallon of milk is obviously equal to a gallon but in liters is equal to 3.785 liters.
The reason for metric units, I think that when you use the metric system you can get a more accurate measurement than using units like inches and yards.
Oh - that's a good idea as to why. They use metric now because it's so much easier mathematically...the US has just been against changing.
